Dancing With Our Stars’ To Raise Funds For BLT – Brevard NC

It’s that time again! Brevard Little Theatre proudly presents “Dancing With Our Stars (DWOS)” Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at 7 p.m. at 55 E Jordan Street in Brevard.

DWOS is a fundraiser to offset the many expenses incurred operating a community theatre. This popular event features eight couples (a very skilled or professional dancer and one amateur dancer in most cases) in competition. The audience gets an opportunity to dance before and after the competition.

The eight very talented couples have worked hard preparing their individual two-minute ballroom dance routines. This fundraiser would not be possible without our stars:

Dottie Tinsley (dancer) and Woody Snyder (retiree), Ruth Lentz (CPA, dancer) and Terry Moore (Harris Hardware), Ann Sharpsteen (real estate broker with Steve Owen and Associates) and Michael Domokur (owner Domokur Architects) coached by Ruth Lentz, Allison Lang (Elements Spa) and Andy Thompson (student) choreographer and coach Lynne Joyce, Jessica Coye (Chamber of Commerce) and Roni Daller (professional dancer, DJ), Dr. Marty Ingram (Through the Woods Natural Health, dance instructor) and Heath Seymour (Heart of Brevard executive director), Amber Austin (professional dancer) and Hugo Seda (Brevard Music Center artistic coordinator), and Ed Skravonik (Pardee Hospital) and Crystal Gera (nurse with Four Seasons, house manager Flat Rock Playhouse).

Each couple performs their dance and the audience votes for their favorites with dollar bills. Each dollar equals one vote. The audience can vote as many times as they want and for as many couples as they want. The winning couple is the one that raises the most money.

Two other people donating their time to the event are WSQL radio personality Don DeBiase as emcee and Robert Frank as the DJ. Frank will play music for open dancing until 11 p.m. Oskar Blues is a sponsor of the event.

Admission is $10. Advance tickets can be purchased at BLT on Friday, Feb. 20 and 27, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (weather permitting). Tickets can also be purchased at the theatre the night of Dancing With Our Stars. There will be a cash bar and snacks available. The doors open at 7 p.m. with the competition beginning at 8 p.m. Inclement weather make-up date is March 7. For more information, call (828) 884-2587 or visit brevardlittletheatre.com or net.

Brevard Little Theatre, the official community theater of Transylvania County, originated in 1935. It is an all volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3).
